Jeb Heaney and Heaney Construction Company restored a three-story post and beam barn
property commencing in the late fall of 2001 and completed same in the early winter of 2002.
This barn is a historical edifice and was originally constructed in 1840. The barn was structurally
unsound and many people advised me to tear it down. I spoke with the New Hampshire Preservation Alliance and they encouraged me to repair the barn and there was a possibility of a tax incentive to save old barns. A bill for this as I understand it is still before the legislature.
Consequently. I decided to repair the old barn and spoke with several contractors before selecting J. Heaney Construction Co. His price was not the lowest. However, from his conversation with my wife and
myself we felt he had the experience and know how to do this very difficult job.
Mr. Heaney and his crew never missed a day and they came on the job early and left as the sun
departed. He did much more than I had imagined and his work was of the highest quality.
Many people have admired the barn and they all say the contractor did a great job.
Since I travel extensively in my work. I was not available to watch the daily routine of the work.
However, my wife & I are extremely pleased with the outcome and would recommend Mr. Heaney and his
company very highly for whatever endeavor he may undertake.

Jeb Heaney and Heaney Construction Company restored a three-story post and beam barn
on our property during the fall of 2002. The work was completed in a professional,
timely manner according to the contract.
Prior to our purchase of the property the barn fell into disrepair due to a damaged roof
This building was not cared for. The missing portions of the roof caused significant
damage to the floors and beams below. We wanted the 19th century barn repaired so that
the property was intact. Through the New Hampshire Preservation Alliance we contacted
Jeb. He has devoted his company to the repair and restoration of old homes and barns.
His proposal included initial repair of the roof to prevent further damage to the building
and tailoring the additional repairs so that as much of the original building as possible
was intact. His appreciation of the historic and aesthetic value of the antique buildings he
works on is apparent through his conversations and attention to detail.
Jeb met with me regularly before, during, and after the restoration was complete to
discuss many aspects of the project. He spent time explaining the restoration process,
determining our wants and needs for the building. and satisfaction with the work in
progress. He was willing to explain both the financial and historical aspects of each
decision that was made.
Without reservation. I would recommend Jen Heaney to any person seriously interested
in preserving a building. Jeb and his crew did a fantastic job, were conscious of the
impact of the project on our Lives, and made sure the area was cleaned once they were
finished.

With our sill, front door and siding job completed. Martee and I want to thank you and James for simply a fantastic job. Our old house will live on for many generations thanks to your efforts.
You and James deserve an extra complement as you made everything go “right” on the job. You turned around the effort estimate in 2 days. YOU began the job on the originally committed date. You both put in long days and an extra Saturday; you even arrived back yesterday with the special door molding and completed the effort many other companies would shrug off until called multiple times. It was also apparent throughout the job that you both are truly expert in your trade — it’s rare to see craftsmen today who “do it right the first time”.
